Important Dates

  • Exam Notification of Intent – Those eligible to sit for the 2025 ABFA Diplomate Exam, must notify the Vice President (Heather Garvin – heather.garvin-elling@dmu.edu) of their intent to take the exam by 1 December 2024.
     

  • Exam Fees – Exam fees must be paid at least 2 months prior to the examination.
     

  • 2025 Diplomate Exam Dates – Exact dates TBD. Practical Exam will be held sometime in August at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Written Exam will likely be held in September and is proctored remotely (i.e., online).
     

  • Analyst Application Submission Period: The Applications Committee will review applications to sit for the on a rolling basis after February 1 and will continue accepting applications until the June 30 deadline or until 40 applications are received, whichever comes first. Applications are to sit for the following years’ exam. Please see the Analyst Certification tab for more information.
     

  • 2026 Analyst Exam: August 2026, in-person at UTK. Exact date TBD.
     

  • 2027 Analyst Exam: August 2027, in-person at UTK. Exact date TBD.
     

  • 2027 Diplomate Exam: October 2027, remote (online). Exact date TBD.
     

  • Member Dues: Pay annual dues by January 1 each year. Late fee introduced if not paid by April 1.
     

  • Endorsement of Professional and Ethical Standards statement: due by July 1 annually.
     

  • Recertification: Recertification materials must be submitted by April 1 during the recertification year. Click here for Diplomate Recertification Form.

ABFA Fees
Current Diplomate Fees (traditional format, 2024/2025)

  • Diplomate Application Fee: $275 non-refundable fee to be submitted within two (2) weeks of the application deadline.

  • Diplomate Examination Fee: $305 non-refundable fee to be submitted two (2) months prior to the examination date.

  • Re-Examination Fee: $200 retake one portion of the examination; $300.00 to re-take both portions of the examination. This is a non-refundable fee to be submitted by 2 months prior to the examination date.

  •  Annual Dues: $200.00 per year due January 1 of each year.

  • Reinstatement Fee: A penalty reinstatement fee (equal to the application fee) will be levied if the Board of Directors grants reinstatement after non-payment of annual renewal fees, non-compliance with submission of recertification documents, or failure to submit the Endorsement of Professional and Ethical Standards statement. This statement can be accessed through the Policies and Procedures portion of the ABFA website.

  • Recertification Late Fee: a $300 late fee for recertification applications not submittedby April 1 of the year of a recertificant’s cycle.​

Multi-Level (beginning 2026)

  • Analyst Application Fee: $150

  • Analyst Examination Fee: $200

  • Analyst Re-Examination Fee: $200

  • Diplomate Application Fee: $150

  • Diplomate Examination Fee: $200

  • Annual Dues: $250.00
